How It's Started 

               My name is Jermel / Mell’s the Founder and CEO of Mell’s Beard Collection. I want to give you a little background on why I started my company and how the name Mell’s came to be. Sometime ago I use to work security, and for the people who don’t know, in security you have to shave your facial hair. After shaving for 5 years for my job, I told myself I will never shave again. After leaving the security industry, that’s when the bearded man began.

       So, I started growing my beard. I used to experience a lot of skin irritation under the beard, and it would cause me to scratch my face, leaving it flaky and irritated. I started trying to find anything I could to help with the irritation and nothing would work. So, I started trying to come up with my own oils that would work for me. The only problem was, I didn’t know a lot about what oil I should use or what will help to stop the flakiness and irritation. I started doing a lot of reading and trying different oils to come up with a great oil for my beard. After going through multiple oils, I finally came up with a product I felt would work for me.

In the back of my mind, I knew I was not the only person having these problems with the irritation and flakiness. So, I decided to come out with my own product to help others as well. The next thing to do was to figure out what was I going to name my company. I wanted the company to reflect me as a person and the journey I had to go through with my beard. The first person I thought of was my father. My father's name is Mell, he moved to Texas about 30 years ago from Gary, Indiana in search of a better opportunity. When I was little, my father used to always push me to do better and he still does to this day.  when it came time for me to pursue my dream of having my own business,

I want my company to always have a piece of my father imbedded into the fabric of my business. In 2018, my son was born and to carry on my father’s name, I named him Jermel Jr. I want my business to be a family business and keep the Mell name alive even after we’re gone. I knew when I started the company the first couple of years were going to be tough. I knew I couldn’t afford to pay someone to help with the product; so I kept pushing, working hard on my craft, and perfecting my own product. What I’m trying to say is Hello!! My name is Mell’s and this is Mell's Beard Collection.
